Live Emissions Tracking for a Renewable Energy Infrastructure Developer

MyLight Systems is a French software and hardware renewable energy infrastructure developer and distributor founded in 2014. The company's goal is to support customers in their move towards 'energy independence' by providing the necessary equipment to transition to solar energy production and consumption. The company purchases solar equipment from around the world and distributes across Europe.

MyLight partnered with Gardenia platform to map their complex global carbon footprint down to the component level. 

A Complex Global Supply Chain

MyLight Systems faced a significant data challenge as it aimed to comprehensively map its Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon footprints across its global supply chain. As a company in the clean energy industry, MyLight Systems recognized the importance of leading by example when it comes to transparency in emissions reporting. To achieve this, they needed a platform capable of tracing their complex supply chain and highlighting the carbon impact of each individual component.

The main challenge lay in finding a solution that could provide this level of detail without creating a substantial ESG data collection burden. 

Partnering with Gardenia

By leveraging Gardenia's automated platform, MyLight Systems was able to achieve this goal. Gardenia's system connected seamlessly with MyLight Systems' existing systems and processes, extracting the necessary data to calculate emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 categories.

Automated Data Extraction: Unlocking Insights in Client Data

Gardenia connected to MyLight Systems' ERP system, allowing for the matching of line item data to emission factors to calculate emissions from direct and indirect sources. Supplemental data was also provided to increase accuracy by enabling unit-based calculations.

Calculating Emissions Down to the Component Level

The Gardenia platform calculated a comprehensive GHG inventory, covering all relevant categories across Scopes 1, 2 and 3. 

By leveraging automation to process and enrich thousands of lines of client data, the Gardenia platform is able to attribute emissions to processes and products throughout the value chain. This enables the application of unit-based emission factors, which give a more accurate reading of a product's carbon footprint compared to using industry averages or spend-based estimates. 

With this granular, product-level emissions data, MyLight gained deep visibility into the carbon impacts across their operations.

Web Dashboards: A Full Suite of Tools for Exploring, Managing & Reporting Emisisons

Comprehensive ESG data is presented in web app dashboards and refreshed daily. Dashboards include interactive tools for interrogating emissions sources, simulating reduction strategies, setting and tracking targets, and reporting.
