Ecoacciones, a leading Colombian ESG consultancy, partnered with Gardenia to help Comfama, Colombia’s largest regional social welfare fund, digitise and validate its emissions reporting. Confama had already begun reporting, but with 111 sites and complex local operations, manual processes could no longer scale. Ecoacciones had sourced high-quality local emission factors, but needed a technology partner to ingest, validate, and apply them at scale. Together, the partnership enabled Comfama to move from manual reporting to a digitised, traceable GHG inventory.
Challenge
Confama works with over 2 million people across Antioquia. Their services span healthcare, education, housing, employment, and more - delivered through a network of clinics, campuses, transport routes and offices. Their carbon footprint is complex, making manual tracking methods difficult to scale, audit or use to discover drivers of impact. They needed a system to automate emissions calculations.
Solution
Ecoacciones led the GHG inventory design and selection of high-quality local emissions factors. Gardenia provided data engine, using our Sustainability Analytics Platform to automatically ingest, validate, calculate emissions.
The solution supported:
- Integration of custom emission factors sourced by Ecoacciones
- Automated validation, gap detection and audit traceability
- Multi-level aggregation from site to sub-entity, activity, fuel or event
Results
Within 3 days, manual data sources were transformed into a complete, audit-ready carbon footprint. Key results:
- <3 days data collection and integration
- 11 sites covered in GHG Inventory
- 16 events covered in GHG Inventory
